Event Details
Returning for the first time in-person since 2019, the City of Santa Clarita presents the Newhallywood Silent Film Festival which will celebrate two giants of early Hollywood: Charlie Chaplin and Cecil B. DeMille.
At 1:00 pm there will be a screening of Chaplin’s film City Lights: with the aid of a wealthy erratic tippler, a dewy-eyed tramp who has fallen in love with a sightless flower girl accumulates money to be able to help her medically.
At 4:00 pm, there will be a screening of DeMille’s film Male and Female. Lady Mary Lasenby is a spoiled maiden who always gets her way until shipwrecked with her butler, then learns which qualities are really admirable in a person.
Closing out the Festival will be Chaplin’s film Modern Times. Modern Times features Charlie Chaplin performing for the last time as the Little Tramp, who struggles to survive in a modern, industrialized world.
**Important note regarding parking: street parking is very limited. The Old Town Newhall Library parking lot, as well as the structure across the street, are located within short walking distance of the Newhall Family Theatre for the Performing Arts.**
