Event Details

Returning to the Newhall Family Theatre is the Newhallywood Silent Film Festival presented by the City of Santa Clarita. The 2026 Newhallywood Silent Film Festival celebrates the film heritage of the Santa Clarita Valley and the film industry before the introduction of sound. This year’s festival honors Rudolph Valentino, the Latin Lover; and Director/Writer/Producer F.W. Murnau.

The Festival starts off with the induction of F.W. Murnau into the Newhallywood Silent Film Festival Hall of Fame and a screening of his adaptation of the German folktale Faust. This film tells the story of the demon Mephisto who makes a bet with an Archangel that he can corrupt a righteous man’s soul and destroy in him what is divine. Celebrating it’s 100th anniversary, come see why some consider Faust to be a “canonical example of German expressionist cinema.” (Running time is 106 minutes).

**Important note regarding parking: street parking is very limited. The Old Town Newhall Library parking lot, as well as the structure across the street, are located within short walking distance of the Newhall Family Theatre for the Performing Arts.**
